Two new strategic appointments at GLTC

In line with its continuous improvement plan, Goscor Lift Truck Company (GLTC) has made two strategic appointments. Pieter Wessels has been appointed as General Manager Operations Support while Darryl Hancock has moved into the Key Accounts and Product Manager role – both effective immediately.

Wessels will be responsible for maintaining control measures over GLTC’s diverse business operations. He will implement the correct processes and procedures across the business by formulating strategies for improving business performance, procuring the correct resources, tools and ensuring compliance. He is also tasked with implementing daily operational controls, aligned with the Managing Director’s long -term business goals and the company’s strategies.

Previously a Financial Manager at GLTC, Wessels has been acting in the role for a couple of months. A B. Com Honours holder from the University of Johannesburg and a qualified CA (SA),

Wessels brings a wealth of experience. He was an auditor at Deloitte for three years, before he took a Financial Manager role at a roadside assistance business for two years. In February 2015, he was appointed Financial Manager at GLTC, a role he held for the past seven years.

One of his key strengths is the commitment to accuracy and ensuring the most effective business processes. “I embrace new technologies and have a strong commitment to excellence,” he says. “I also have a strong focus on improving customer experience by using the information at hand.”

In his new role as Key Account and Product Manager, Hancock will be responsible for all activities related to the management of key accounts, target accounts and product standards in line with OEM requirements. He will actively engage with National and Branch Management and develop strategies with assigned responsibilities for the identified customers.  

To enhance the company’s level of customer satisfaction, he will liaise with GLTC’s respective OEMs to ensure all product standards are met and consult with sales teams to ensure that correct products are supplied to the respective applications. He will also work closely with the National Technical Manager to interpret and apply these standards to the working environment.

Hancock has been with GLTC for 16 years and his most recent role was that of Regional Sales Manager for the greater Johannesburg area, with massive experience in each of the geographical areas of the region. He has over the years built up a strong rapport with key customers in the region.

He has over 25 years’ experience in the warehousing and material handling equipment industry (MHE). “I have strong passion for specialised MHE (the higher and more technical the better) and customer relationship building,” he says.
