Leisure vehicle, golf cart, turf and landscaping equipment supplier, Smith Power Equipment, is making the ordering of parts and spares even easier with the introduction of high-tech logistics systems including artificial intelligence modelling that will ensure parts are easily available anywhere across the country.

Newly appointed Parts Manager for the leisure and landscaping division, Andre Coetzee, is working tirelessly to streamline parts supply across South Africa and ensure the fastest possible turnaround times for spares and parts of the vast number of brands under the wing of the supplier.

These include well-known premium brands of turf care machines from Toro, golf and utility carts from Club Car, offroad and recreational vehicles from Polaris and quads from Linhai among others.

Andre has spent 17 years in the turf and related industries starting his career with a well-known wholesale supplier of turf and construction equipment. Experience gained across various roles in sales, procurement and management enables him to fully appreciate the supporting role that the parts plays across all departments and he is able to use this experience to improve all aspects of the parts supply chain.

His strategic approach addresses logistical challenges, including rising freight costs, by utilizing advanced systems and artificial intelligence. These technologies forecast demand and manage inventory efficiently, ensuring high parts availability and reducing customer downtime. This operational strategy not only streamlines the supply chain but also enhances customer satisfaction by minimising delays.

“Direct customer interaction is of the utmost importance and reassures our customers that they are a top priority and not just a number to us. In this competitive market with both local and international players our focus on customer service in support of the best brands available in the market today sets us apart from the rest.

“By improving parts availability and maintaining competitive pricing, we aim to enhance our market share and reinforce the customer experience and loyalty to our brands. The use Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts is central to the reliability and performance of our equipment and through interactions with customers we are able to show them that while OEM parts may come at a higher cost compared to non-OEM alternatives, their superior performance and longevity provide better value and reliability in the long term.”

He adds that the company is committed to continuous improvement and staying at the forefront of industry developments to ensure the company is well-equipped to meet evolving customer needs and to maintain its leader position.
